DivorceHow Much Will My Divorce Cost?

January 29, 2021

“How much will my divorce cost?” This is the question I am asked most often on an initial call with a potential client.

While not an entirely improper question, my answer may surprise you.

This question is really like going to the doctor and asking what’s the prognosis while in the waiting room. While I may be able to predict possible outcomes of your case, guessing the cost is difficult, if not impossible. The cost is largely dependent upon how reasonable or unreasonable you and your spouse are. If you both want to “win” at all costs, dig into your positions and resolve not to accept any settlement, the costs will be high. If you are both looking to achieve a fair settlement, the costs will be considerably less.
